We’re growing, with an increasing number of client engagements across data, cloud and AI, and we’re now looking for a senior technical hire to help us deliver that work.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can take ownership of client projects from initial scoping through to architecture, build and delivery. You’ll work closely with our Founder, lead the technical direction of your engagements and help shape the standards and approaches Concise uses as we continue to grow.

Location: Guernsey preferred; hybrid considered for the right candidate
Type: Full-time, with potential to start on a contract basis before moving permanent
Salary: £60,000–£80,000 depending on experience
About Concise
Concise is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced technical lead to join our team and help us deliver an expanding portfolio of client work.
We’re a Guernsey-based data and AI consultancy helping organisations build the foundations they need to use their data, and increasingly AI, properly.
Our work spans data engineering, cloud infrastructure, analytics, automation and AI. That could mean building a data platform and ingestion pipelines, developing a portfolio analytics solution, or creating an AI assistant that works securely with a client’s own data and documents.
What connects those projects is a simple principle: good AI starts with good data foundations.
The Role
We’re looking for someone who can take a client engagement once it’s signed, shape the technical approach and see it through to delivery.
You’ll lead requirements gathering and scoping, design the architecture, and do much of the hands-on technical work yourself. On some projects you’ll work alongside one or two contractors, coordinating their input and reviewing their output.
You’ll also take ownership of our engineering standards: how we design solutions, the patterns we reuse and the practices that keep our work consistent, secure and maintainable.
You’ll work closely with the Founder, who leads new business and Concise’s wider strategic direction.
This role needs breadth of technical judgement rather than deep specialism in one narrow area. You should be comfortable working across data engineering, cloud infrastructure, software development and AI, and able to judge when a simpler solution is the better one.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead client requirements gathering, scoping and technical delivery
- Translate business needs into clear, practical technical solutions
- Design architectures spanning data pipelines, databases, cloud infrastructure, APIs, analytics, automation and AI
- Build, test and deploy solutions yourself
- Design AI assistants, agents and automations that integrate with client data and systems
- Coordinate and review work from other contractors where required
- Define and maintain Concise’s technical standards and reusable patterns
- Ensure solutions are secure, maintainable and well documented
- Build to our “yours to keep” principle, avoiding unnecessary long-term dependency on Concise
- Explain technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Technologies You’ll Encounter
We don’t hire against a rigid technology checklist, and our stack will continue to evolve.
You’re likely to work with:
- Python and SQL
- AWS and Azure
- Relational databases and modern data platforms
- APIs and system integrations
- Power BI and other analytics tools
- LLM APIs and platforms including OpenAI and Anthropic
- AI assistants, agents, retrieval and workflow automation
- Modern AI-assisted development tools
- Git and standard software engineering practices
You don’t need experience with everything above. Strong technical foundations, good judgement and the ability to learn quickly matter more than matching our current stack exactly.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
You must have:
- Strong hands-on experience and demonstrable knowledge of AWS, SQL and Python
You’ll ideally also have:
- A background in solutions architecture, software engineering, data engineering or a related discipline
- Experience leading client-facing technical projects from requirements through to delivery
- Strong understanding of data pipelines, databases, APIs and cloud infrastructure
- Experience designing solutions rather than simply implementing someone else’s specification
- Practical experience using LLMs or AI tools within real applications
- Confidence reviewing other people’s work and making technical decisions
- The ability to explain complex technical topics clearly
- A self-directed approach and comfort working in a growing company where not every process has already been defined
Experience in consultancy, defining engineering standards or taking AI and data products into production would be an advantage.
